The Reparations Community of Practice — organized in late 2019 — is a group of reparations supporters, advocates and other leaders who are actively engaged in the journey toward reparations in the Episcopal Diocese of MA. This means we are investigating and interrogating our history to understand the complicity of The Episcopal Church in the slave economy, the slave trade, and slavery.
Our goal is to engage the Diocese and every parish and Episcopal community and agency in this work as an expression of our Baptismal Covenant and act of repentance and restitution that could lead to healing and reconciliation. We will accomplish this through study, listening, and sharing with an open-mindedness that leads us. We will cooperate with other dioceses and the leadership of the local and wider Episcopal Church.
We welcome anyone who is interested and doing this work to join us!
